Narritive Writing

"Ah" I sigh as I sit down and start to relax. Just then my daughter runs in and says"PHOTO TIME!" She rushes to set up her camera. " Do i H-A-V-V-E to!" I asked as if I'm juvenile "YES!" she squeals with excitement. """Click""" My photo was taken. I stare at my very scruffy iron coloured hair. My pale pursed lips make me jump. My fragile face makes me look sadder than a mouse without cheese! The phone rings I whisper "Dam' I wobble and struggle to stand up my thing legs look as though they're going to break. I hobble over to the phone and pick it up "Hello??" I answer.

___________________________

The story of Anne Frank begins with an ordinary little girl, someone you might sit next to in class.
She had large, expressive eyes and dark, curly hair. She was lively and popular always surrounded by her friends. Mostly Anne felt on top of the world. But sometimes she was afraid. There was a good reason for this: Adolf Hitler ruled germany them, and he had vowed to get rid of the jews Anne Frank was a German Jew..

My hideout (Google image)

I look in the mirror and see my beautiful waves of ginger hair. My bright blue eyes are sparkling. All over my face i see lots of polka dot freckles and a shining grinning smile, I can smell the fragrance of my perfume.

Some times walking into my room makes me feel claustrophobic, So i lay down on my bed and close my eyes. Once i close my eyes my imagantion runs wild, but the one thing that relaxes me is my peaceful hide out. The soft and green grass surrounds me as the fragrance from the blossom trees run up through my nostriles. The sparkling pink, red an yellow horizons day is over, it quietly sneaks down which means it is my time to go.

The Broad Street Killer

I read a book called The Broad Street Killer.

It was about London in the 1800 and a break out of a disease called Cholera
. Cholera is and infectious disease caused by the microbe vibrio cholera. Although there was once no cure, today the disease is easily treated. Despite this, around 1.5 million people many of them children continue to die each year from diarrhea caused by microbes like cholera. They are infected with the disease for the same reasons as people living in the nineteenth century London: crowded living conditions, poor sewerage systems, and untreated drinking water.

This book was about the break out of Cholera and a Dr called Dr Snow. Dr snow had an idea about who this breakout started hos idea was contaminated water but other people thought it was bad air causing this. But..... When Dr Snow discovers something that would make everybody believe him something happens a little baby passed away because of the disease then the government started to believe him and then discovers a crack in the pipe connecting  the sewerage system  to the river and it turned out that the sewer waste was going into the clean water!

Here is a letter Dr Snow wrote before he passed away:

The Editor
Medical Times and Gazette
Sir,
As soon as I became acquainted with the situation and extent of
the late outbreak of cholera in Broad-street, Golden Squre,
and the adjoining streets, I suspect some contamination of the
water of the much frequented street-pump in Broad-street ...

On proceeding to the spot, I found that nearly all the deaths had taken place within a short distance of the pump. There were
Only ten deaths in house situated decidedly nearer to another
street pump. In five of these cases the families of the deceased
persons informed me that they always sent to to the pump in Broad street, as they preferred the water to that of the pumps which were nearer. In three other cases the deceased were children who went to school near the pump in Broad-Street

RIDING INTO WAR

In Room 15 my group goes and reads in Room 14. This term we have been reading RIDING INTO WAR. Here is the blurb-Billy may have been fresh off the farm, but he was a good rider and even better shot. When the world went to war in 1914, Kiwis rushed to enlist. For Billy and his best mate, Jack, joining the Mounted Rifles Regiment held the promise of adventure-little did the know half the battle would lie in keeping their horses alive aboard the troopship as they journeyed halfway around the world. In the storey the main characters were- Billy,Tui ( Tui is Billy's horse) Jack and Spirit (spirit is Jack's horse) there was also and man called Chopper with his horse Trojan. At home stays Alice Billy's best friend ( maybe his girlfriend) his parents and his mates. Billy and Jack think war will be a great adventure but when they get there it all changes. Sadly jack died in the storey and billy wrote this  to his parents-Dear MR AND Mrs Thomson, This is Jacks best mate, Billy, writing to you about your son. You've probably heard that he passed away on the 9th of August at Gallipoli. I wanted to write and let you know how bravely he died, trying to help his mates. We were fighting to hold the summit of Chunk Bair and the Turks were all around us. We ran out of ammunition and Jack leapt out of the trench to get some more. He was shot by a single bullet and died instantly. He didn't suffer at all.Our friend Chopper promised he would arrange a proper burial for Jack. I'm in hospital recovering now. I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for Jack. He was always so brave and cheerful despite everything. He made this horrible war beatable for me and i will always remember him.He loved you very much.My warmest wishes, Jacks best mate Billy Bowman
You can tell jack was a strong man Billy Bowman Lost a leg and this book was dedicated to the authors grandfather Trooper Thomas Mcgee of the wellington mounted rifles.
"lest we forget".
